My first high-quality set of bedding was a wedding gift. It was part of a department store registry and over two years later I was still happy with it. That was until I was going through security at LAX and saw someone with my pillowcase. It wasn’t quite as horrifying as seeing someone wearing the same dress, but it got me thinking.

Santa Barbara-based Luxury Lab Linens is the answer to my problem. Luxury Lab owner Caressa Allen thinks of bedding as a wardrobe. She produces hand-screened duvets and shams in limited runs and quantities to ensure exclusivity. When a style sells out, it’s time to introduce a new one.

For the premier collection, Luxury Lab is offering five styles (some with different color options) in 300 thread count, 100% Egyptian cotton. They all strike a balance between masculine and feminine, which is great for couples and singles.

I like the Just Like Heaven angel wings design in sage. (Maybe I shouldn’t be telling you that.) But I know the limited quantities will assure that my choice will remain rare and exceptional.
